Be The Botanist Event

I got invited by Guest of a Guest to attend the Be The Botanist Event and discover the first and only Islay Dry Gin.

At the beginning of the event, you got to mingle with other attendees and enjoy some hors d’0uvres. The event was set up so beautifully with posters of the Botanist gin all around and information on each poster. In the back of the room, each table was et up with all the ingredients and tools to make the cocktails.

Around 7:00ish, we got to sit down and make a Botanist cocktail. The brand ambassador of the company informed us about the Botanist and the ingredients that go into the making of it. Some of the ingredients include two types of juniper, islay spring water and the 22 botanicals that are hand-picked by two botanists by the names of Dr. Richard and Mavis Gulliver. The ingredients are dried and then distilled.

There are three things you need to remember before trying a liquor: smell, look and taste. We got to smell the Botanist and it had a light floral scent. The look of the liquor was clear and the light shined right through it. Also, when you titled the glass, you got to see how the gin made it’s own small ring inside the glass. The taste was the best because it went down very smooth and it had a sweet taste. Normally, I would stay away from gin because the taste is distasteful and the burning feeling is discomforting. The Botanist gin was the complete opposite; it was a gin I could actually start to love.



The cocktail that we got to make is called a “A Date with Destiny.” It includes ingredients such as Botanist gin, Luxardo Bitter, Sweet Vermouth, and Date syrup. When I tried it, it was a little strong for my liking because I like more of a fruity taste, but it was still a new drink I got to try. They served a more fruity drink, which was called the “20th Century.” That one was definitely my favorite!

All in all, this event was a success in my book. I learned a lot and got to try gin for the first time. I’m glad it was the Botanist gin.

Midi Skirts

One trend that is popular this season is Mid-Length Skirts. Since I always clean out my closet after each season, I had to do some new purchases and that included buying a mid-length skirt. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Zara being open in Aventura is the best thing ever!

This midi skirt  is high waisted with a longer zipper in the front. One of the the good things, I like about this skirt is the shorts underneath the sheer material. The shorts give the skirt a whole different look. It’s like a 2 for one deal haha. In all honesty, when I first purchased it I didn’t even realize there were shorts underneath until I tried it on at home. I was super excited once I realized it too! With this skirt, you can go from day to night before you know it. I choose a more casual, street style look.

I styled the skirt with a printed tshirt form Zara, yellow denim jacket and my white leather boots.

Purple, Yellow & Black

Hey Everyone! I hope you guys enjoyed your Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Working at Aventura Mall has it’s ups and it’s downs. One of the good thing that happened this month was a whole new wing opening the mall. The wing has stores such as Agua de Coco, Topshop/Topman, Zara, new restaraunts and more. Zara opening up in Aventura Mall was the BEST decision ever! I’m just excited I don’t have to go all the way to Lincoln Road or shop online; I finally have a Zara close enough to my apartment.

Once it opened, you know I had to go check it out. It’s huge !!! 2 floors of Zara wonderfulness (& yes, I just said that haha.) I couldn’t leave the store without anything, so I bought a few items. One of the items I bought is this purple, yellow, and black fuzzy sweater. At first, I was hesitant about the color combination but then I thought “I’m ready for the challenge to style this different ways.” Something about this color combination was different from a lot of the stuff Zara normally carries and it just screamed Miami Street Style to me. Plus, I haven’t seen a color combination like this anywhere. The sweater is short sleeve and fuzzy, so it’s the best of both worlds. I styled this sweater with my black pleated Mafia skirt, Fabiolas, and a yellow purse.
