I’ve always been into fashion since I can remember. I feel like I embraced my style more when I got to college especially being in Miami I was able to express myself more. While I was in college, I would always dress up for class or even if we went out to a party, restaurant, etc. I was dressed up to the nines. People would compliment me on my outfits and ask me where I got certain items from.

What do you know in 2016, I started my fashion blog. I originally started this blog to just show case my outfits. Then I had sat down one day and realized I wanted to give people advice on how to style certain items, especially shoes (; I want people to feel inspired by the outfits I come up with and add their own little twist to it, to be inspired to wear whatever they want and not give a crap what people think, to just be inspired to be themselves.

I’m trying to show people more of what my life is, but sometimes that gets hard for me. Yes, there’s a lot of good things that happen to be, but don’t be fooled there’s bad things that happen, as well. I’ve been rejected and told “No” by brands before about collaboration opportunities and even styling opportunities. Life is honestly a bunch of ups and downs that you just have to make the best out of.

It’s been a good 3 years of blogging and I love every second of it. Hopefully, I’ve been inspiring some of you with your outfits or helping you figure out what items to put with what. If you like what I’ve been doing, continue to stay along for the ride and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Shopping in Miami does get a little tough sometimes especially when you’re not from here. That is why I decided to create a small shopping guide about a few of the malls I shop at. Miami has a bunch of different places to shop, whether it’s a local boutique or an actual mall. For me, my top four malls that I love in Miami are:

  1. Aventura Mall

  2. Lincoln Road Mall

  3. Miami Design District & Bal Harbour

  4. Brickell City Center

These 4 are my go-to malls and they’re in close proximity to me. First, I’m going to talk about Aventura Mall. Aventura Mall has everything from luxury to your more affordable stores, including restaurants. Fendi, Christian Louboutin, G Star, Steve Madden, Diesel, Apple are just a few stores located in Aventura.

I love going here to shop because one I know the mall like the back of my hand (that’s what I get for working there haha!) and two because they have such a wide variety of stores. Last year, they added a food court, which has a Shake Shack, Chipotle, Luke’s Lobsters and more…how can you turn that down?! They even have a small outdoor area for kids and a movie theater !  My second favorite mall is Lincoln Road Mall, even though it can get a little touristy.

Lincoln Road Mall is an outside strip mall and its a more affordable place to shop. With it’s long list of restaurants, you’ll have plenty of food options to choose from. Some of the stores at Lincoln Road include Zara, H&M, Lush, Urban Outfitters, J.Crew, Forever 21, and ALDO, to name a few and has small boutiques too. This mall is close to South Beach, so you can stop by the beach and catch a quick tan before you shop. One cool thing about this mall is that while you’re walking you’ll see people showcasing their talents whether it’d be art, music, or dancing. Speaking of art, there are a few art structures around Miami Design District, which is next on my list to discuss.

Miami Design District is geared more towards your high-end brands such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Versace, Hermes, Christian Louboutin and more. They recently just opened a Sephora in this area and that has helped me get my every day make up needs after work. If you want to grab a quick bite to eat you can stop Michael’s or St. Roch Market. Miami Design District is an outdoor mall, so it’s best to go on a nice day, but on the bright side when it does rain you can ask valet for an umbrella. Don’t forget your camera because there are so many Instagram worthy spots! The good thing about this mall is the it’s close to Wynwood Art District; after shopping you can always take a 10 minute drive there to check out the art galleries, small boutiques and more. Lastly, I’m going to discuss the mall in my favorite area.

Brickell City Centre is the newest mall in Miami and honestly, I love it there. They have restaurants such as Tacology, Casa Tua Cucina, La Centrale, and Sante Fe to name a few. If you live or are visiting the Downtown Miami/Brickell area, this mall will be the closest to you and Miami Design District. This mall caters to your every day shopping needs and has a movie theater, just like Lincoln Road Mall and Aventura.  In my opinion, this mall is still growing because the area has a lot of growing to do. It has shops such as, All Saints, Bath & Body Works, Giuseppe Zanotti, MAC, Saks and many more.

I hope this shopping guide helps you whether you are visiting Miami or you live in this beautiful city. There are a few malls I didn’t get to cover, but these ones are malls I frequently visit.

Wow! I can’t even believe it’s been 7 years since I left Pennsylvania to come to Miami. In August of 2012, I had moved to Miami and started my college career. After4 years, I graduated and decided to stay here because I knew since I wanted to work in fashion that wouldn’t happen in PA.

Since it’s been 7 years of me living in this wonderful place I thought I’d share with you guys a 7 things I’ve learned about living in Miami:

  1. 98% of people in Miami know Spanish (I actually learned more Spanish now than I did in high school and college haha.)

  2. Always carry an umbrella because you never know when it’s going to down pour for 5 minutes.

  3. South Beach is for the tourists… (so much easier just relaxing at the pool in my apartment complex.)

  4. No one in Miami knows how to drive!

  5. Everyone is always late.. It’s called Miami time, people.

  6. There are so many different types of food that you’re going to want to try them all. (At least, you’ll finally be putting that gym membership to work haha!)

  7. You won’t ever want to leave!

I am so happy that I am able to call Miami my home. I’ve met so many amazing people, that have turned into friends. I was able to start my fashion blog here and embrace my style! Yes, there have been some downs, but those downs have turned into ups more times than I can count. I know there is still so much more I have yet to experience from Miami and I cannot even wait.
