Shift Dresses: The Redefinition of The Feminine Shape

About a week or two ago, I took a little time away from everyone and everything, while doing that we already know I did a little online shopping in between relaxing and enjoying some sun. I came across TOBI, a website that has all your go to fashion trends for any season and for a reasonable price! You can never go wrong with affordable prices.  I decided to give the store a shot and purchase a few items, plus I always love finding new stores I can order from.

Two of the items I purchased are shift dresses. A shift dress is a short, sleeveless dress that hangs loose on body down from the shoulders. This type of dress has been worn since the 1920’s, but it didn’t become popular until 30 years later. There is an argument about who designed it first, either Hubert Givenchy or Lilly Pulitzer. The shift dress can be styled many different ways and worn to any occasion.

Now this shift dress I had a little challenge styling because of the color. For me, mauve is tough color because I feel as though you’re limited as to what colors you can wear it with. I literally spent days on Pinterest trying pull inspiration from anywhere and sitting in my closet starring at my clothes. For my first outfit, I wore my tailored pants from H&M, and for shoes my Follies Spikes.

For my second outfit, I decided to try something different and wear this dress, as top. I wore my navy blue, skirt from H&M and Follies Spikes from Christian Louboutin. I hope you guys like it!
